Poon, P., Hui, E., et al. (2005).
Int J Geriatr Psychiatry, 20(3), 285-286.
Added: July 2011 |
Description
This randomized controlled trial examined the feasibility, acceptability and outcomes of cognitive interventions provided in face-to-face or internet-based treatment arms. Participants included individuals with the diagnosis of mild dementia or mild cognitive impairment.
Conclusions
-
Overall cognitive outcomes did not differ significantly when delivered via teleconferencing or face-to-face.
-
"Over 90% of the VC [videoconferencing] group was satisfied with the audio and visual quality of the VC system" (p. 286).
- "The majority of the VC [videoconferencing] group preferred the VC program as they felt that this mode of care could save time and cost...compared to existing CI [cognitive intervention] programs" (p. 286).
